Re: ZoneAlarm blocking some ISP DNS...................

As was mentioned above. Just chose the firewall tab - then zones tab in the middle. Go to ADD at the bottom. Then input the IP of your ISP DNS server. Make sure this is selected as trusted. No need to lower your overall firewall setting once this is done. This is really no different than what some users had to do with the 4.5 builds in the past.

I've never had to do this with my cable ISP.

Are you sure? He or she said that his or her Trusted zone was set to High...

Thanks for the info. It be a he. LOL

I have set the trusted zone to medium. I added the three DNS numbers to the zones. When I added them to the zone I figured that they would go under the IP Address. Right or wrong? Then one can edit them once in the zone and can set to trusted, internet. which one would be right?

I went back to 4.5, but if I can get this setup right I will try the 5.5.094.000 again.

Again thanks.

IP address is the easiest way. You should set them to Trusted Zone.

Yes I'm sure. Once your DNS server is listed in the trusted zone there should be no need to lower you overall security level. Yes I'm aware that in the past this has been mentioned as something to do. From what I've read and seen it's not needed ( in most cases ) once the DNS servers are added to the trusted zone. Honestly in most cases I don't think you should even have to add the DNS servers. I tend to bet that something that should have access out isn't set to have that access. Thus the problem with sites not displaying properly.

As always this is just my opinion. Others mileage may vary. Not here to get into a pissing match. Which honestly it looks like it's head in that direction. Kind of funny how above the new version was being trashed. But now that things were looked at calmly and with a cool head. Things are working.

For the record not for me though. lol. This latest build gives me a blue screen of death on install.

Huh? But if the "Trusted Zone" is actually set to "High" security, doesn't that mean it's no more functional than the Internet Zone is?

Moot point for the poster, since he's lowered his Trusted zone to Medium anyway.
