has anyone with grandfathered experts plus taken plunge and signed up? i think maybe only me said she thought adding freedomlink wouldn't foul up grandfathered experts plus status, and i have come to have a lot of faith in her opinions, but this issue has me very nervous about some other untraceable bureaucrat making a change from which i could never recover my existing level of service. any thoughts / experiences appreciated. thx

I haven't seen an announcement of where to sign up. When I last checked the Freedom Link web pages, you could sign up at the regular rate. But there was no where to sign up at the $1.99 rate. |

maybe sbc will communicate time and manner of signing up (perhaps even provide a signup url) for existing dsl customers to subscribe for freedomlink service for the $2/month additional. would be nice if they could, in that message, assure everyone their service, plan and rate will be otherwise unaffected. |

| reply to btaylor1 The free trial period expiration is May 31. If SBC doesn't extend the free trial period once again as they did from the old April 15 cut off date, I'll bet they won't have a special sign-up program for $2 extra per month. Their sign up accounting overhead costs would eliminate any profit from the $2 monthly charge.
I'm guessing that they would fold Freedomlink in with all new speed plan prices as part of a DSL bundle. Heck, maybe they will even re-introduce the much requested, 6.0/608 (or 6.0/768) speed tier then (it apparently didn't make it to the May 1 offerings. |
