Re: [News] FTP being blocked?

I'd agree that it wouldn't be the first time an ISP had taken port blocking steps without notifying it's customer base. I'd also agree that it's always best to try as much as possible to rule out something on your end being the cause first. Although this forum can sometimes get a bit heated. I don't really see why it had to get that way in this thread. Maybe the person who posted anonymously has information or history with this person. That we are unaware of. Or maybe they are just trying to stir the pot a bit for fun. But it could be they feel they have an axe to grind. Not the first time we've seen that here.

Yes the forum is here to help all of us when we have an issue. I think it also gets used wisely - as a clearinghouse of information in regards to Insight.

I personally feel it sets a bad precedent to jump down someones throat just for asking a question or for help. It'd be different if this was a user who came in always complaining - when many times it had been shown the user needed to resolve some issues on there end. I'm not sure that was 100% the case here.

johnboy45, I was simply asking to see if Insight decided to port block port 21. Other ISP's have in the past and thought that Insight might have done the same. I did admit it was a configuration problem on my end after all. I assumed that these forums are to help out people with issues NOT to just slam them.

That's my 2 cents.
