| Power Output
Hello,
I have a 200mw Prism 2.5 PC Card that can ajust the transmit power.
It has High, Meduim high, Medium, Medium Low & Low
I am matching it with a 20db Antenna and am not allowed to go over 36dbi, how would I tell what power the card puts out at the different levels?
Thanks Heaps

1 edit | Well, 200mw works out to ~23db, so matched with a 20db antenna, assuming no connector losses works out to 43db.
So.. you need to set the card to ~16dbm output, or 39mw.
I dont know how to tell what "level" works out to what amount of output.. so I would approach it in a linear fashion. Just break it down..
200mw is obviously high.. we know this already, the rest are educated guesses
~150mw should be medium high ~100mw should be medium ~50mw should be medium low ~20mw, or some other small digit would end up being low
So, I'd set it to either medium low or low and consider it compliant. Dont know how bad things are down in *.au.. that is, if the frequency nazis come out with triangulation gear whenever an old lady complains her tv is fuzzy. Obviously finding the proper definitions for "medium low" and whatnot is best, but the way I described above is how I'd tackle it if I couldnt find those definitions. -- Teamwork is a lot of people doing what I say. | ircd.removed.us #dslr | Starband SRS m360 GE4 C4/S69 | Win2003/DualNIC | 802.11b |

I will keep it as low as possible with good signal.
Im still trying to find out what signel strength is good enough, at the moment I try for above 50%
Thanks Again |
