Wierd things here

Ok,
I have something Weird going on..

I have (3) 14bdb 120 degree sector on a legged water tower. 200mw Radio on them and 5 Feet of LMR400 Cable. Channels are 1,6, and 11.They are all facing different directions and all...However, I have a 14db Rootenna on the HPOL and it out performs any of the sectors...I can connect to it with better signal than any of the sectors. The sectors, I can maybe see 1 mile out...the rootennna, I know it will do 5....

Any Ideas?
This is killing me to the point where I may just got get 6 Rootennas to replace my 3 sectors...

What purpose does the Rootenna radio serve? What channel is it on?

Dont laugh,
Rootenna is a backhaul...however it works flawlessly...I even turned off the other sectors...and rootenna...same

channel one though..about 3 or 4 feet from the other radio on channel one.

What brand are the sectors? How old are they?

Keep in mind that there is a big difference between 14dbi at 120* and 14dbi at 30* (or whatever the small spread of the Rootenna is). Same power, lot more focus.

Also, you mentioned the Rootenna was HPOL, what is the polarity of the sectors? Could it be a performace issue with V vs H? Is there a lot of interference in the area?

I don't think there is a problem using panel antenas or even grids on the distribution points, if there is no need for a broad area to cover.
I my POP I have an ap with a 16db sector, another one with an 15db omni, and a 14 db panel antena for a ptp link to another pop.
Wherever i install CPEs on the side facing the panel, i recieve stronger signal from the panel then the other two antenas. Also the panel antena has a lot weaker radio 18db, comparing to sector and omni with 23dbm radios.
Even that the 14 db panel is rated at 30* beamwidht, it covers more.

The tighter that beamwidth, the more focused and (I hate to use this word as it does not always apply) the stronger it will be. I use 19 dB grid antennas and most of my client CPEs want to attach to it rather than the 17 dB 120* sectors that feed out the true signal. The dB is not the biggest issue really, it's the beamwidth that the signal is focused into.

So, in actuality, it's not really strange that you are picking up the rootenna better.

What radio is in the rootenna?. I know for a fact that You are causing Your own interference, because You are just to close with these units and the rootenna. Even though You are on different polarities, the fact that they are only 4 feet apart is a problem right there. If I were You, I would use a channel in between the 2 sectors that are frutherest away from the backhaul(I.E. If You are using channel 1 and channel 6, use channel 3 on the backhaul and H polarity and see what happens?. There is no problem with the Hyperlink sectors, Just the way You have it setup I think?. Did You apply downtilt to the sectors?, You may be only good to a mile out because Your signal is in the atmosphere instead of on the ground?.

What kind of cards? I've deployed SMC SMC2532W-B cards, and used mmcx pigtails based on their *incorrect* data sheet. They are actually rp-mmcx. Old news, but I only recently figured it out. I've had weirdness with them at times. Basically with the wrong pigtail, you end up shoving a couple of very small center pins together bending one or both a bit and usually getting a connection.

Needless to say, I'm swapping out all of the pigtails.

Sounds like a vertical separation problem to me,

Even if you have channels 1 6 and 11 your rootenna will cause problems, and your sectors may have a lot of bleed to the rear.

I have shut them all down and then bring one up at a time...still same performance.

I will try the channel thing suggested.

Thanks you all for the suggestions.
