I wouldn't recommend neither as HD mp3 players are simply not designed for physical activities. Flash based MP3 players are simply the way to go. Ipod Shuffle ain't bad.

I don't agree. if you don't drop them - and there are loads of jogging-with-your-ipod belt/arm/whatever clips - then they are fine.

The disk only seeks once every minute or less, and for a second, so if you are a klutz and drop them you have a good chance it will be fine. Jumping around with one in your hand is not sufficient g force to make the read head hit the disk.

Well the risk of the HD mp3 player falling is very high if you participate in physical activities and if the HD player is dropped a very high risk that something bad will happen to the extremely delicate hard drive. Yet if a flash based player is dropped most likely nothing will happen. Plus HD based players are pretty hefty when you are exercising or whatever.
