:Got my Gizmo tonite and had a bit of a problem getting the Voice light to come on with it in front of the router (SB4200-SMC-Gizmo) but eventually got it working. By logging in to the router I could see that it was connecting to the Gizmo so I assigned that IP address to the Gizmo's MAC address in the DHCP Address Mapping (I have firmware v1.42.012) and then put that IP in the DMZ - instantly got the Voice light. Made a few calls and it sounds great!
I had called SRs tech support and told them what I was doing and they said I had to set up port forwarding. I looked the the router setup but I couldn't find that feature for the SMC (I am not all that tech savvy about this stuff). I found something close - Special Application - where you could assign a range of public ports to a "trigger port", either TCP or UDP, but the tech help didn't know what that did; told me I had to assign the
routers login IP to a range of ports. Anyone know how to do this in th 7004ABR? Or know how to set up the Special Application trigger port(s)? I think that would be a better way than using the DMZ.
Anyway, in case anyone else has the same issue...
DMZ is by far the easiet and most robust methond. Forget about port forwarding.
