Does 3Web really allow "unlimited" bandwidth?

When running on top of Rogers cable areas does anyone have experience with 3WEB and how they deal with bandwidth caps? They claim no limits but the fine print of their agreement seems to talk about throttling.

People seem to be under the impression they can switch to 3WEB and use 100's of GB's of bandwidth per month to get around Rogers new 60GB/month cap. Can anyone verify that they have used 100's of GB's per month on 3WEB Cable and had no issues, throttling, warnings or slowdowns?

I did search and did not see the answer to my question. Has anyone used 100's of GB's on 3WEB Cable in a Rogers area and not been warned or throttled?

If there is a post saying yes maybe you could point it out to me.

Thanks,

-Darryl

Yes. They send emails out once you hit 40 gig but they don't disconnect acording to the person I was speaking with.

Noboby here has 1st hand experience then? I guess we'll have to wait and see if Rogers really boots people after 3 months and see how many move to 3WEB.

@cable.rogers
If you switch to 3web cable you are still capped at 60GB a month. I just got off the phone with one of their reps...

Since the 60 GB cap is as a result of the infrastructure being overloaded, and not a straight bandwidth issue, factored in with the fact that 3Web uses Rogers' infrastructure, it's only natural that 3Web abide to Rogers hardware rules.

If it's not 60 GB, it's an invisible cap.

Rogers CSR's will probably tell you their service is unlimited too!

Call centers are so funny. You can just keep calling back and getting different people until you get the answer you want to hear.

The only way to really know is to see what happens when you use 200GB in one month.

Okay. This is my personal experience. They called me today to tell me that I have gone over the "limit" this month. I am using cable/Gold package. They told me I have used 120GB this month and it should be only 20GB. HAHA! I did ask that about their unlimited advertisment and he said they don't want customers to "abuse" bandwidth. Well he said it is just a "friendly reminder".

We will see what will happen next.

Well, atleast 3Web CSRs are upfront about the abuse thing. Their not like Rogers:

CSR: You've been using too much bandwidth.
Cust: I thought it was unlimited bandwidth?
CSR: It is.
Cust: So then what are you talking about?
CSR: You've been using too much bandwidth.
Cust: But you just told me it was unlimited!
USR: It is.
Cust: But you just told me I used too much bandwidth!
CSR: You did.

Cicles and circles and circles...

I have nothing against rogers. Back in a day I could pull 600-700 gigs a month and get away with it. I am at 200 right now with 3web. Lets see what happens
