As far as the modem goes, your best bet is to buy one from the cable company as they will warranty it for as long as you have the service and it only cost 39.95 for a Motorola SB5100 try getting a better price..

When did they drop modem prices this low? Is this a used unit? In the past I think $99.95 was quoted in regards to buying a modem from Insight. You can buy a new SB5100 much cheaper than that price. I was also under the impression that Insight was Arris happy. But I'm sure like everything else - this can vary from area to area.

Also if you buy your own modem. There is a manufacturers warranty. But it is for a limited amount of time.
