 $30 DEAL DETAILS

Does anyone have the details regarding the $30 for Broadband a month? Does this include modem costs?

According to my local Insight customer rep, the offer is for 'NEW' customers only and they must also get digital cable. It does not include a modem. The best bet is to buy your own modem, such as the Motorola 5200.

The fine print on the screen says for existing customers of cable, new customer of broadband. How much does a modem cost?

Your best bet is to buy your own modem and save money. I know when I rented one from them it was like 15.00 a month.

I just checked on the site
Cable Modem Rental | $15.00 a month |

So you can see buying one will pay off in just a few months.

The offer is for anyone with digital cable service, current customer or not. As far as the modem goes, your best bet is to buy one from the cable company as they will warranty it for as long as you have the service and it only cost 39.95 for a Motorola SB5100 try getting a better price..

"it only cost 39.95 for a Motorola SB5100"

When did they drop modem prices this low? Is this a used unit? In the past I think $99.95 was quoted in regards to buying a modem from Insight. You can buy a new SB5100 much cheaper than that price. I was also under the impression that Insight was Arris happy. But I'm sure like everything else - this can vary from area to area.

Also if you buy your own modem. There is a manufacturers warranty. But it is for a limited amount of time.

I am now a contractor for Insight in Evansville.
The modems they are selling here are RCA DCM425 (I think).
according to the work orders, they are $39.95 and as far as I know, if you ever have a problem with it, as long as you still have their service, Insight will warrant it. I may or may not be correct, but I think I am.

I paid 79.95 + shipping at Amazon.com for my sb5100. That was about 6 months ago. I was surprised about acable modem prices being so high, but when you're buying one, might aswell get a good one.

Insight uses several different brands of modems (depending on which week it is ). Anything from Arris to RCA to Webstar, which is the latest one I've seen. They used Com21s and 3com shark fins in the past...
