I had a Verizon DSL tech come out to do some troubleshooting here at my place in Long Beach, Ca. and I asked him if FIOS was gonna come to Long Beach soon. He said he wasn't sure but that they are gonna roll out FIOS in Westminster, Ca. soon. I asked why Westminster, he said Westminster had a large CO. I just though I'd share this info for those of you in the Westminster area.
So, is this what they do? Do they install fiber where they have larger CO's? | |

I have no idea when they will actually light the pipes but it's just across a main street only two blocks away. Two weeks ago they were a 1/2 mile away. It looks like they are rolling east from the CO (~5,000 feet from me) and south from the 60fwy (1/2 a mile). It also looks like they are starting in the middle-middle class ($400k) homes and rolling towards the upper-middle-middle class ($500k) homes and the business district. They are still miles from the upper-middle class ($700k) homes. Remember this is Chino not OC. Prices are about $100K less rediculous...

| Re: Another roll out of FIOS in So. Calif? Man.. I'm still waiting in Huntington Beach. They were supposed to have like 90% of the city wired by March. As of now, there is no evidence they've even gotten to my part of the city, and asking around I've only heard from one person I know that has even been offered it. You don't even see the trucks around much, at least on the west side of the city. I haven't seen one in several months.
Does anyone know the status of HB? | |

2 edits | Just noticed an ad in the local paper in Chino/Chino Hills and Verizon has a full page add announcing their FIOS service. I called and inquired and was told I should get a FedEx package in about 2 months time but definately by summer. We'll see! | |

| The verizon installer said the city would only issue 5 permits at a time. Verizon could not work under those conditions so.... the went to Chino. One small area in Chino Hills has fois, it was completed before the permit crunch. | |

2 edits | Re: Another roll out of FIOS in So. Calif? As to FiOS (Fiber Optic Service), Only the Local techs know for sure around here and I don't get out enough as It is. Although I can safely say that the VZ paint on Calico Blvd that Verizon put down wasn't due to road work on the nearby I15 freeway as They aren't doing any widening outside of a Truck lane on any grades going up hill(The RT there is not near a Grade so that is out), Just a repaving project around here, As to the VZ paint in the Park, I don't know for sure since the Park has just extended the B sides Septic/Sewer system by adding 6 tanks and new leach lines as It could of been due to that, Yet with what happened outside the Park, I think I really have no clue and the Verizon techs around here are only around occasionally, If at all.

| It looks like Verizon has or is in the process of running fiber in Chino Calif from the 71fwy to Monte Vista between Riverside and Philly. That takes in most of the city's 1960-70's middle class homes. Today I saw the working the Chino Ave to the tracks - Pipeline to Monte Vista area which are 70's, 80's and 90's homes. Oddly enough that bypasses my town home community, and much of the city's apartments and older homes.

It will take quite a while, due to the fact that its a very,very,very,very large CO. As for HB, its moving along but I dont even think its near done. We still have alot of areas to finish. And from what I've heard Fountain Valley is posing a problem, the city is being quite difficult. | |

Say I'm not anywhere near HB, I'm in Yermo and someone from Verizon came out and spray painted ----VZ----- near the center of the park(play area and road) where I live in Red spray paint and Did the same thing on Calico Blvd(It's a 2 lane road) pointing from the I15 freeway side of Calico to the RT side of Calico Blvd in a nice straight line too. Can You tell Me If Verizon is planning some Fios work out here? Victorville is 45 miles away by freeway(I15) and is supposed to be getting Fios soon, Along with Apple Valley and Adelanto CA. The RT is near the Calico Rd exit, On the Southbound side of the I15(The I15 Freeway is going to be widened from Barstow to Baker and Las Vegas NV is paying for It).

Well I got the Pics, I had to get a camera that I could afford and yes It's an Argus DC1620 and It's cheap....:D
Might even be slightly blurry, But It cost Me $21.19 at Walmart.
