Another supplier is Greenwald Supply in Springfield. They supply contractors and builders like ABC Distro I mentioned above, but they have also been helpful to us with our small scale projects. Their staff is knowledgeable about the products they stock.

They've been great help in trying to refurb a used Mosquito Magnet I picked up at a yard sale... hope that baby works as the weather warms up and the blood sucking bastards move in.
They are also a Weber dealer, so they have a good selection of grill pieces, parts and accessories.
Smitty's Lumber is down Rte 1 closer to Ft. Belvoir. Have not been there personally, but then again I haven't had a need for much lumber lately |

I always try to patronize small neighborhood-type businesses. Cherrydale Hardware and Virginia Hardware are the first places I go to before Home Depot.

| reply to bbrlogue There is a hardware store in Ferndale on MD 648, across from the firestation and the old Lucky's (now called something else) that sells all the odd-ball stuff in the world. Any time Ace or home depot or any of the big stores don't have it, they refer you to this place. I just can't recall the name of it at the moment.
We use to live a block up the road from that place and would walk up there any time my Dad needed something hardware related.
My last visit there was to get a replacement cap for my septic tank after I hit it with my lawn mower. -- "Are you on the Distributed Computing Map?" |

| So beside Home Depot and Lowes, what hardware store do you go?
It's always fun for me to find local hardware stores & lumber yards, so I'm always looking for a new one. I'll start with my list:
- Fischer (Springfield) - ABC Distributor (Arlington/Shirlington), abcdistributor.net - Ayers Hardware (Washington Blvd) - Virginia Hardware (Clarendon) |
