| My NewEdge story
Currently I have 3 business class dsl lines running to my house, two are 1.1/1.1 SDSL lines through NewEdge- the other is a 1.5/768 ADSL through my local phone company.
One of the SDSL lines is rock solid, and has been for nearly three years now, however NewEdge was raising their rates to the partner and my monthly bill was going from $276 to $409. After looking around I was able to secure the same service from a local company for $230 per month (again, through NewEdge- go figure).
A new phone line had to be ran to my residence for the new SDSL service, and everything tested out fine- as long as the phone line was above ground. When the phone company came out to bury the new line everything went to hell.
The new SDSL line, which tested at a solid 950/950 here with the speedtests, started losing sync after the line was buried. The biggest problem is that when the SDSL line loses sync, it takes my ADSL line from a solid 1300 kb all the way down to 400 kb, with significant loss on upload also.
I'm using the lines to run web servers, and through this entire fiasco I've ended up leasing 2 servers at EV1 in order to insure that my web site is accessable. So I'm paying for two leased servers, two SDSL lines (one of which I can't even turn on), and one ADSL line to keep my site online reliably. (I used to do it with a single SDSL line and a single ADSL line)
Looks to me like NewEdge is fine if everything works right in the beginning, but I've never seen a better job of foot dragging if you have trouble.
As it is, I'm paying for their screw up-- and it looks like they're trying to hold me to the contract (for something that's never worked)

| Sorry to hear you are having problems. If you are having sync problems than you need to have your ISP setup a trouble call. If you don't get results with them call New Edge directly and start complaining. In my experience New Edge has been top notch as far as fixing problems. It may be the ISP which is dragging their feet on this one. |

| reply to bevans846 No, it's not the ISP in this case. There have been no less than 5 trouble calls. Everything worked perfect until the lines were buried. However, I've been dealing with this for nearly 2 months now and it still doesn't work. The SDSL line losing synch taking the ADSL line down should tell anyone exactly what the problem is, however no one seems to want to make the local phone company dig the line up and fix it. I can't do anything about it because the phone line is New Edge's. They had it installed, they're the only one's that can get it fixed. At this point all I want is all of New Edge's stuff disconnected from my house, something they seem to be unwilling to do. I've wasted way too much time and thrown way too much money at this problem. I have quietly put up with this for two months now. At this point I don't even want it fixed, I just want it gone. |
