Cable throughput is typically 600Kbit to 800Kbit/sec. from the Internet to the subscriber and 128Kbit to 256Kbit/sec. to the Internet.

99.999999% of the time my Comcast connection downloads at least 6000 kbits and uploads at 720 kbits (real throughput, not some flakey speed test). I've never seen downloads drop below 5900 kbits. And I'm out in rural America where DSL fears to tread!
