As MSeng points out there are still no release notes on this update. We don't know, therefore, what the changes are and if indeed they are compelling, life threatening or life changing enough to update.
I'm an optimist (well informed pesimist) so i will update regardless and in hope that changes are for better.
I also know that this update will not break any of my java apps as there are none

Just updated.
Now sound works in Yahoo Chess. Finally!
But the fonts are still unreadable as before. Sigh. When will they ever get all the bugs out?

All I know is that 1.5 does not support old 98 1st edition PCs. There has to be more to it than that.

Funny you should say that becouse i noticed too that finally all the sounds work in the pogo games i play with this version . It also seems "speedier".
All fonts are fine here..i noticed when i did the installation there was a choice of custom installation. When i clicked the custom installation there was a choice to install more fonts to be read and i clicked it to install more.
Maybe by default it does not install certain fonts and you have to click the custom install to install them? |

Did I need to Remove update 1? I notice in my add/remove listing that both update 1 and 2 are listed and if you go into Java in the control panel-Java tab>view the java application runtime settings: that you will see both 1 and 2 present. See attached....

Hercules, CA | I always download the offline instal version then uninstall the older version and reboot. Then install the newer version and reboot again. Maybe overkill, but I haven't had an issue doing the Java updates this way. |
