Re: Software upgrade?

Been using Vonage VoIP for a long time, never seen these problems before. Mine has been as solid as my DSL connection. Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

Re: Software upgrade?

I have a Cisco ATA186, and I have had none of these issues. Ya gotta love the new crap they make now. I hate firmware/BIOS updates...

I don't know if Ma Bell had upgrades with such ease when she first started either.

Re: Software upgrade?

I remember a long time ago when AT&T did a software upgrade and shut down more than half of the countries long distance, and some local calling capabilities. Things happen, even with the Bells. I never noticed it here in the 847 area code, but could have been down. My syslog server shows there was network traffic between the ATA and Vonage during the outage time. The only question I have to ask is, why not do these things at 3:00am? Dan

And there you see the difference between those that work on the telephone network vs. those that work on a computer network.

Telephone workers are trained to avoid downtime at almost any cost. Computer network people will reboot at the drop of a hat. Most network admin people care much about the idiots that actually use the network. The users are viewed as bunch of looser n00bs for the most part.
