said by dellsweig :said by fartman1234 : how do I use this firmware i tried to upgrade in setup page but keeps saying error not upgraded or sumthing. I just uloaded this firmware (EWRT) on a WRT54G running DD-WRT. No problem. I am trying to configure the captive portal - nocatsplash. I enabled the option and put in a target web page. I assume that any wireless client being served by this AP will be re-directed to this URL - this is not happening. Anyone out there ever try to get this working?? Ok - just a thought.. I was running this on a WRT54G acting as a WDS node. The laptop was associating with this AP - as I set up a unique SSID on the captive portal AP. Does anyone know if the re-direction only occurs over the WAN port?? -- »aerobatix.webhop.net |

I'm setting up a neighborhood wifi network using a Linksys WRT54G v. 2.2 (talking to a 15dB omnidirectional antenna after going through a 1-watt amplifier). I chose this router because I want to require users to view a splash page before they can access the web. It seems NoCatSplash is the way to go, using the EWRT-0.2.bin firmware I downloaded from »www.portless.net/menu/ewrt/.
However, like the other user here who started this thread, I have had NO luck upgrading the firmware to the EWRT. I WAS able to use the Linksys ugrade utility to upgrade the Linksys firmware to WRT54GV3.0_3.03.6_US_code.bin, which appears to be Linksys' latest. (The upgrade utility did that automatically and didn't allow me to choose a .bin file.) So, I apparently have to use the HTML interface utility at 192.168.1.1/administration in order to upgrade to the EWRT firmware. Fine, but I get a failure message after about 10 sec. when I try to do it.
Any ideas? What's it take to make this thing run?

PS: Anyone know where the menu on broadbandreports is that allows you to change you location/email? |

| reply to fartman1234 In another thread, I learned that EWRT-0.2 will not install on Linksys routers 2.2 or newer as .2 predates the newer routers. Therefore, you will need to download the .3beta version. With my own 2.2 router, I was having trouble with upgrading to the wwrt-0.2 firmware, but had NO problems upgrading to the .3beta version. Guess we're just stuck with that. |

| I highly recommend that you check this thread as well, which is about EWRT-3beta, but much of which should apply to these posts: »[Firmware] WRT54G Captive Portal with EWRT .3 Beta
One of the developers of EWRT responded there to my query for more instructions.
