Re: Fastpath Weird Wild Stuff

DSLTech is a great source of information! But I'll relay some experience on my part. With Fastpath if you make ANY changes to your line, it will be shut off! I had that problem and now I'm stuck without it. Took me 2 years to get it turned on, had it on for a year, now it looks like I'll never have it on again.

In closing, don't make changes unless you REALLY REALLY need them if you have fastpath already.

Alleyman,

His account is not handle by the same department as Sprint Customers. He was allowed fast path by the techs who handle the ISP's account, so you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Hey DSLTECH I have one question for you about Fastpath and Interleave. Maybe you can get an answer for me or us on this issue from one of the engineers. Its my understanding that interleave is turned on for error correction purposes. But what I dont understand is why? There is a model set in place on systems called The OSI Model that takes care of error correction of network packets. To get into more detail Layer 2, Data Link, detects errors and Layer 4, Transport Layer, corrects errors of network packets. So, with this why have interleave turned on if the OSI Model is already taking care of this within a system? If the Interleave slows down a packet time then it should be off and fastpath on. The error correction would be taken care of within The OSI Model.

You must understand that the OSI model is a theoretical model and in fact we use the TCP/IP suite of protocols. Yes it does have error correction built in, and interleave is an added part of the error correction. Interleave is not a term Sprint has come up with, but was decided upon by Lucent, that it would make for a more stable network.
