[Verizon] VCAST update

So far I like the VCAST service. I have noticed just a few problems:
1. There is very limited content so far. CNN and MSNBC provide all the news clips with updates every hour. If you are not interested in news then your choices are very limited. You can watch movie trailers, Comedy Central clips, celebrity gossip, etc. A mobile version of "24" started yesterday with a one minute mobile episode. Not sure why it is only one minute and not very interesting.
2. During peak hours the video stream is interrupted for buffering. I watch the video clips commuting by bus into NYC. While in heavy traffic the stream buffers once or twice per clip. During off peak hours there is no buffering except to start the clip. I am also getting "Advance Network Not Available" during peak hours.
So far the service is just a novelty. If there is no improvement at the end of the 2 month free trial then I think I will stop the VCAST until it expands to more diverse programming. The video is exceptionally sharp and clear. Sometimes the audio is very low on some clips and is not in sync with the video.

I have already returned the phone. The 8000 was way too bulky for me. It was like a brick on my belt. I now have the 7000 which is not a VCAST phone. Let's see what happens with the technology in 22 months when I can upgrade again. Maybe we will actually be able o watch live TV!

I thought the 7000 and the 8000 were both the same weight? How much is VCAST anyhow?

7000:
Size: 3.69H x 1.89W x 0.98D inches
Weight: 3.88 oz

8000:
Size: 3.76H x 1.97W x 0.93D inches
Weight: 3.88 oz

The 8000 is just barely bigger, and weighs the same amount. I'm thinking the difference was psychological for rick02043 See Profile.

Actually, the 7000 and the 8000 are exactly the same size more or less. When I got to the Verizon store I realized this and decided to keep the 8000. Whether or not I keep the VCAST is another story entirely. We are able to watch a few minutes of Desperate Housewives, Lost and 24 each week. I really hope the content is expanded in the coming months to justify the $15.00 charge. I like surfing the web without using my minutes. This was a major problem for me since I only have a 300 minute plan and could easily use Mobile Web 2.0 about 60 minutes a day while on the bus commuting.
