I just want to see how much of the 5Mbps pipe is left after 1 or 2 HDTV sessions are being pushed down that feed. |

| Umm the limitation on the internet won't affect potential TV over fibre, that will be provisioned completely seperately from the internet, remeber this is a pipe capable of well over the 5 / 15 / 25Mbps but limited to that level. TV services will be provisioned over their own bandwidth and won't affect or be affected by internet usage in any way. |

| reply to xlimitx yep, just because you've got the 5/2 package doesn't mean your fiber pipe is limited to 5M. I don't know what fiber is capable of but it's hella more than that. It's like any other cable/dsl service... whatever service you sign up for there is either a software or hardware filter on their end to limit your download speed. Doesn't mean that is all your pipe is capable of. |

| reply to xlimitx Television services and telephone services (not VoIP) don't affect the speed of data services (aka internet). Television, telephone, and data all have their own seperate frequency so one service will never affect the speed of another service. Just remember that telephone isn't really the same as VoIP. VoIP is technically data so that is shared with the internet. |

| reply to FDM80 I think your both confused.....fiber can be used as a broadband medium in that multiple signals are going on the same line. I don't think? fiber uses frequencies. Unless i'm flat retarded, fiber is all sent with leds/lasers and is not prone to frequency interference because theres no electricity of any kind flowing through the wire.
I don't think the limitations of fiber have been reached yet....i think i've seen upwards of 100Gbps? They have been slowing down the speed of light and playing with fiber in order to cram even more data in the pulses with slightly increased latency. |

| reply to xlimitx Don't count your chickens before they hatch. Verizon hasn't got one franchise to sell television. Why do you ask?
Because if they did they would have to wire the whole town and agree to all the franchise requirements that the cable company has to.
Why is Verizon picking and choosing the area's they deploy? |
