Um wasn't this being said years ago? Didn't we hear something like this in 1999 and before? So how far away is this actual 10 years. Are we working in dog years, human years or some other type of calendar year that most of us aren't aware of? Isn't Google going to give us all our dream ISP?:D

Well verizon is a telco and is rolling out fiber like a champ. Maybe you should take the word telco out and basically say the companies names who are not rolling it.

Yes, fiber is coming, but so is WWIII, terrorist plots, the revenge of John Ashcroft, rebirth of Johnny Carson, etc, etc, etc
Early evidence is just in about the FIOS deployment in NY metro, its officially behind schedule (ok, they can blame it on snow, but sheesh) when June, July and September come around, the excuse will be over and there will be alot of angfy, disappointed people, and I hope that this starts a MUNI fiber project for NY metro area BIGTIME!!!! |

That's nice, but what the hell can I use it for?
I've got customers in areas that are exclusively FTTH and guess what? No broadband from the telco! There is currently NO AVAILABLE CONSUMER BROADBAND INTERNET offered by Verizon for FTTH customers.
So WHAT IS THE POINT? FTTH gives the customer NOTHING. Telcos don't offer any consumer services over FTTH other than voice. The people living in these areas would have been better off if Verizon had run a single pair of copper to their house, for all the good fiber-optic is doing them. So instead of wonderful Internet via f-o, these customers have to go with Cable Internet.

| Last time I checked FIOS was an internet service. Since you obviously are talking about something else, maybe you can explain to us about them folks in Keller texas and other area's that are getting FIOS. Apparently as far as your concerned it's not there , wow Verizon really has people fooled.
Because you or people you know can't get the service means jack.
BTW Verizon offers tv over the fiber also.
