Firmware v2.00.02 for 3CRWE554G72 fails...

Greetings.

I just downloaded the new v2.00.02 firmware from
»www.3com.com/products/en_US/resu···der=desc

The upgrade fails saying that there is an error in the file.
More exactly:
---------------------------
Microsoft Internet Explorer
---------------------------
Upload Data Error! Please make sure your file is correct!
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

My current fw is V1.02.15.
Bootloader: V1.00.00.
Wireless: V1.0.1.0
HW: R01A

I have tried to restart and power-cycle the gateway, but no luck.
I have also tried to go back to fw v1.02.13, and tried to upgrade to v2.00.02, but that didn't help either.

Anyone has any ideas ?

Just in case... are you trying to upload the .exe file downloaded from the 3Com site into the unit?
If so, what you need to do is run the file (it's an auto-extract utility basically), and it will then provide you a file (normally a .bin file) which you should upload via the web interface.

Hi Bob.

No, I have extraced the files from the .exe.
The extension on the file is .dlf.
It is the .dlf file I'm trying to flash with.

I can flash the gateway/router with all the older firmwares from the web site; v1.02.00, v1.02.13 and v1.02.15 without problems.

Its only the new one, v2.00.02 that fails

I also have tried to reset the router to factory defaults, but that didn't help either.

I have noticed that the size of the v2.00.02 .dlf file is greater than 1MB, so maybe my router is too old ,maybe it can't handle the larger .dlf file ?

Where did you get that firmware ? I guess you picked it up from the 554G72 T or U. In that case this is the wrong firmware as this is a different hardware from the 554G72. So I think you can't upgrade your gateway with this version 2.0.02 which doesn't exist for it.
Let us know as I'm interested also

Regards

François

Well, I have the 3CRWE554G72 model.
(I don't have it in front of me right now, so I can't tell if it has a T or TU, but I don't think so, should check later this evening)

So I search by model number 3CRWE554G72:
(Notice that there are 2 other links for the T and TU models)

Click on the link for the 3CRWE554G72 model:

If you compare all those 3 pages, you will notice that they all points to the same .exe download.

I have done a binary file compare on all 3 .dlf files, they seem to be exactly indentical.

Since the 3CRWE554G72 page says 3CRWE554G72T/U firmware v2.00.02 , I hope 3Com has made a mistake, putting the wrong .exe for the 3CRWE554G72 and will fix this.
And hopefully there actually exists a v2.00.02 fw for the 3CRWE554G72.

Yeah I just realized myself that my IE shortcut to the 3CRWE554G72 has been updated this morning with the new firmware you mentioned.
At this point, if you read carefully the readme, it refers to models T and TU. So I don't think it can be applied to our model 3CRWE554G72. It may be an error from 3Com I guess.
If not, does anybody succeeded with this this upgrade ?

For those of u that may have as me the 3COM PCI card b/g/a, there is a new driver dated from december 2004 that appears under software section and not under Driver section!!! Since I installed it, I don't have anymore disconnection when using bittorrent!!! This is great!

Ok, I did send a question to 3Com yesterday about this.
Today I got the response.
And, unfortunately, the new firmware v2.00.02 is only for
the 3CRWE554G72T/TU models, not for the 3CRWE554G72.

Today the web page for the 3CRWE554G72 is also updated with the removal of the v2.00.2 firmware.

Bummer...
