•apply a filter that yields a detailed graphite (charcoal) image... grayscale pencil works, too. Outlining set to max.
•apply a smoothing blur at max settings... can also use a massive touchup brush
•despeckle as needed
•copy this output into original image as new layer
•merge into background layer... there were quite a few interesting effects (multiply, etc). I chose "lightness" (I also "multiplied" in another copy of this layer and combined everything into the background)
•now add a "diffusion glow" effect (free plugin for this, if needed, at »www.richardrosenman.com/)
•frame as desired
I'm not completely happy with the result so far but it's close to what I wanted... (the sky could be bluer, for example) |
