| Keep Talking.......
All of those people making fun, and claiming the Army can't do anything, sound like the same people that started crying after the RIAA started filing lawsuits.
It's a basic fact that you don't own any software on your machine that you didn't write. I know of no software developers that sell their software. You are licensed to use it. Check your EULA. That being said, The DMCA gives software developers alot of ways of coming after you.
Make sure you laugh now kiddies; when your ISP cancels your service or you (or your parents) get served with a lawsuit it won't be so funny.:D -- "Those who would give up their civil liberties for security deserve neither." Benjamin Franklin |

| ISP canceling service? I work for a ISP and never have we canceled nor have I even heard of someones service being canceled as a result what they did in a game. I've heard of users being banned from games as a result of there actions which is very much how this type of thing should be handled. BECAUSE IT IS JUST A GAME. The developer does not even own the servers these type of games are played on, they are owned by private owners like you and me.
I think most people forget it's just a stupid game and take things like this way to serious. |

| the Army DOES own their official servers... They are leased from and maintained by SCI & now Speakeasy The Dev team is paid by the US Army.. meaning the Developers DO own the official US Army servers.. the official leased servers are also subject to the same EULA 1st Veterans Battalion (www.1st-vets.us) has 4 official leased servers and we must follow the same rules as the Official servers. we are also an aasa member.
The US Army owns the rights to the game, Evenbalance (even though they are a joke and we all know it) is contracted by the US Army and when installing both the game and punkbuster you must agree to the EULA... tampering is a violation of the EULA and is punishable by prosecution.. just like any software that you agree to use AA is no different. because Americas Army is run more as a civilian company they don't do things the government way...
Chit is gonna hit the fan soon... |

If you notice every ISP's terms of service include a clause about illegal activity. This is illegal under the DMCA. If the Army pushes, the ISP will cancel the account. -- "Those who would give up their civil liberties for security deserve neither." Benjamin Franklin |

| Well...I have been in the Army for 6 years, been to Iraq, and know that the Army will follow up on it's actions. As for the cheaters...they should be sent to Iraq...and put in a Republican Gaurd uniform and shot! I can't stand cheaters...they ruin the game for people who play by the rules. Now...as for going to Iraq...it is a HONOR fighting for your country...not a punishment! |

| reply to RedCaliSS it didn't help when ealier devs had suggested .INI tweaks, and double key-binds, so i feel they must take some responsibility for this terrible plague we call cheating. all you had to do is follow their directions to get into your .ini and the rest is easy just start tweaking stuff. i suggest that the army limit the free downloads to US citizens only, and release a RETAIL version with a cd key or steam to all other countries. bet hackers would have fun with that. |

| reply to Im_Dingo_Foo As a regular player of AA since it came out I could see something like this coming. There has always been cheaters in the game and if you are good enough you can still own then without cheating. Your teammates usually would kick or have them pb banned. So it was a minor annoyance.
But in December hackers found a new hack to make them unkickable along with many other things that made it almost impossible to play on Army servers. People had to go to privately hosted servers to avoid all the problems. |

| reply to Im_Dingo_Foo it WOULD be an honor to fight for your country. like the brave souls in WW2. unfortunatly, you fought to further the political agenda of your president, a war that should never have happened and has resulted in a mess akin to vietnam (i'd say worse IMO).
no offence intended, i DO think the military is an honorable profession, my grandfather was killed in WW2 fighting for Canada. |

| I know you meant no offense or anything, but when people like me and Im_Dingo_Foo join the military, we do it for the honor of serving our country, and while doing that we have to follow orders, even if they are ones we don't agree with. You can bash the president for whatever you want, but don't bash the soldiers that are just being told what to do. They are choosing to put their life at risk to serve their country, so until you are ready to do that, don't say anything about the soldiers fighting in Iraq. |

| reply to Alakar Well I personally didn't fight to further anyones "political agenda"...I fought because MY country was attacked....palin and simple. I was in New York when it was attacked and seen first hand what happened. I had several chances to not go and fight...but I chose to go. That is my job and I will continue to do my part to help keep my country, and our allies countries, safe from terrorists actions. I have a question for you hUMANtS404...I saw Canadian soldiers in Iraq...whay do you think they were there...and what political agenda do you speak of? The way I see it was we were attacked...so we struck back. Someone in this world needs to have the balls to stand up and defend themselves. |
