| (AA) US Army/DOJ/FBI/SS to hunt down cheaters!
Lol,
Thought you guys would find this interesting:
Inquirer Article:
The US Army is mad, and gunning for you
American Army man speaks out
By INQUIRER staff: Wednesday 12 January 2005, 17:47 Tyan Tomcat i7221 Server board A FILING ON a forum from Phil DeLuca at America's Army game project indicates that the US Army is not at all happy at people s0dding about with its code.
DeLuca said that the US Army is very unhappy with hackers and others breaching its licence agreements, and it knows who these people are.
He said: "When you tamper with the [America's Army] game not only are you breaking the EULA, you're misusing Army property, and worse, you're misusing US Army computer programs and equipment".
He said the US Army knows who the offenders are warned that "tampering with software and servers owned or used by the Army is cybercrime".
And his filing on the forum, which you can read here (»forum.americasarmy.com/viewtopic···t=143447), ends with a dire warning.
He said: "We know who you are, and can track down where you play from. We have incontrovertible proof you did something illegal. The Army is angry, and we're coming for you". µ

1 edit | Cool I hope this is true. Thank God! I hope they follow Thur with it and put these guys on the six o'clock news. Maybe a few nights with bubba fix these kids.
I play almost nightly and cheating has become a huge problem with this game. Its ashame because the game is superior to any other tactical FPS on the market, and its free. |

This has been beat to death with every game. not entirely true in this case ya see with this game, all the code, and servers are property of the U.S. Army. not only are they correct that it is a cyber crime, they CAN prosecute someone that violates the EULA or does something to any of the game servers. don't let yourself be fooled the U.S Army owns this game. they can and probably will prosecute some folks over this.
and I for one am glad that they are doing this -- Nunya Bidness |

1 edit | In short, *yawn*
AA is a terrible game, I don't know why people play this, I didn't find it that tactically rich at all, more of a marketing ploy to get folks to enlist. /*snicker*
I wouldn't bother.
The Army isn't going to go after a cheater who uses a program, there isn't any monitary gain for them, and it's a waste of the governments time and money for what? some 15 year old pimply faced impressionable kid?
"Why are you in federal prison?"
"I downloaded a game cheat . . ."
- Yeah right . . .snowballs chance in hell of happening.
You want a better game get BF1942 and Desert Combat MOD . .10000% better game. |

| You dislike AA probably for the same reasons I think Doom, UT, Wolfenstein et al ar horrible boring games that repeat the same thing over and over. At least playing online against others you do nto have AI that does the same thing or does the same 3-4 possible things... -- Brian America's Army Forum Moderator and America's Army Beta Tester |

2 edits | Well . . .
Actually I dislike doom, UT, wolf . . .because of the circle jerk mentality . . .AA isn't any different It's a small corner of the FPS world, for those prospective army enlistee's (kudos to army . .this one is a suckerpunch) HEY THE ARMY IS FUN LOOK11!2 There's much better titles available that came out 3 years ago that accomplish more.
I don't know if you've ever played battlefield 1942 with the desert combat mod, try playing it with bots set to 100% . . .crazy challenging, richer than anything out there tactically, keeps you coming back for more, especially multiplayer.
Probably best multi out there minus HL2 . . which I have not played . . . WoW has me tied up. When WoW is down . .DesertCombat. |

| There is no money involved. Unless the army treats it like defacing army property or something. Cuz really AA is nothing more than a marketing tool. Like a billboard. So I can see the army getting pissed off if someone who did not pay for the billboard somehow devalued the marketing value by spray painting all over it. If people cheat in the game they ruin the experience for the prospects the army is seeking, potentially costing the army lost recruits (revenue). I would not cheat in that game, FYI. -- Bozone (n.): The substance surrounding stupid people that stops bright ideas from penetrating. |

| reply to 35375105 Well - seeing is how the new cheats do not use the mode they won't be. If they had to change a file that AA uses and coded then they could be since they would be breaking the EULA of the game itself by changing a AA file.
Right now - it is CONJECTURE that people state folks will be thrown in jail and the original thing we were discussing (you and I) was the assumption you had that the AA Dev's coded the mode "Which is a cheat they themselves put into their game." that some folks used to cheat with.... -- Brian America's Army Forum Moderator and America's Army Beta Tester |
