| In my area,TIME WARNER does still broadcast ANALOG (from 2 - 83,A-1) They repeast the analog one's above on the digital side (Which i think sucks!!!!! If your paying for DIGITAL SERVICE,and you go ABOVE 100,you should see the DIGITAL side of it)

Yes it sucks but I guess your cable company is short in QAM and need to upgrade their network. The cable company I work for (Canadian) is feeding 100% digital channels to their subscribers. It takes more QAM but it helps to fights against satellite companies. We're working with 750Mhz and few 500Mhz networks.

Your lucky being able to provide 100% digital service.......
I just think they are just trying to get by with the cheapest they can do......They could carry the DIGI side of some of those,but since they have them already analog,they dont...It makes me sick......(You can tell which ones are digi and analog by the amount of tyme it takes to authorize it when you goto it (DIGITAL take about 3 seconds,analog comes up instantly) |

Shouldn't be called luck and I think that were us cable companies are vulnerable, they don't see their network as the crown jewel of the company. Could be what will take down cable companies that will have ignore that fact when VDSL will be publicly released.

QAM is a modulation technique!!! A cable company can not become short in QAM, the become short in bandwidth or open frequencies. If you actually work for a cable company you should at least have the proper terminology down. |

I used the term short in QAM to illustrate the fact that all current QAM in use are full (full bandwith used).

They alias the analog channel in the digital lineup. You can notice that easily even if you are not technically inclined. The dot noise is noticable for analog channels and when you switch to an analog channel the usual delay that occurs with digital channels is absent.
With more than half of the digital channels are actually analog there is no real incentive to upgrade to digital and pay for extra STB rental fees etc. for me. When they go 90% or more digital (and preferably HDTV by then) then I will probably upgrade. |

Videotron always cared about it's network, believing in it's power for delivering interactive content since the early 90's. Some parts of the network could even handle 1Ghz frequency (adding tons of new QAM  ).

I'm waiting for things to get up and running here in the Tampa Bay area. Verizon is working this area now putting fiber to each house. I'm told there are going thru the whole state. My house is on a hub with two others houses. One of the techs said three houses per hub. Sounds real interesting. Haven't heard what they will offer. I got Brighthouse (TW) cable now. The net is pretty good 3Mbps download. The HD TV sucks. 480I is all they offer now. It sucks! You can see why I'm waiting for Verizon.:) |

My Cable co. used to have Analog on A-5 and A-4 but took them off (They were Spice and Playboy) A-1 is just an ad for time warner (It used to be WE network) and sometimes they put Network Monitoring Graphs on A-2 (You can see the network traffic in lines going up and down (I 4GOT THE PROPER TERM (HEHEHEHE)))
A friend of mine said he had a cable ready tv once that went up to 1000!!! (analog) He scanned up there above 100!!!!!!
He found test/colorbars @ 140 and starting @ 800 he heard music!!!!!!!!! (Like music choice,etc.........) I would love to have an analog TV that goes to 1000 and scan on mine and see whats up there........(Maybe all the analog scrambled channels 'NOT SCRAMBLED' (Which there is only 1 now))
