Re: Java does not run applets

PROBLEM SOLVED! After following all the suggestions from Java and others, I thought I would try one last thing before giving up on using Java to open applets on broadbandreports.com. I uninstalled version j2re-1.4.2_06,
downloaded an old JAVA version j2re-1.3.1_15 and installed it.
IT WORKED RIGHT OFF THE BAT!......WITH NORTON AV AND ZONE ALARM ENABLED OR DISABLED.Nothing else was changed....
no settings etc. Is there a BUG in the latest Java version??
It would seem so. If you are having problems with the latest version of JAVA, before trying all the complicated FIXES? from JAVA, I would first try using the older version of the software. HOPE THIS INFORMATION WILL HELP SOMEONE.
Thanks for all the suggestions. HAPPY NEW YEAR.

No, there is no bug, at least none that would cause the problem you had. I'm glad you got it working but I would suggest that at some point you might try re-installing the 1.5 version.

One suggestion I would have, assuming you don't already do so, is disable the AV anytime you install software. An AV running in the background during a setup can really cause problems.
