Re: Setting Up New Service

If indeed the line is run and is ready...you can set it up without insight..you will need the white sheet with your account info from insight off the top of my head...
1) hookup equipment (router,modem,pc)
2) pull a DHCP address which is automatic if your router is set to use DHCP it will be in the 10.x.x.x subnet
3) web browser 12.223.2.9
4) enter requested info and this will register your modem and your border router's mac

You have a router so you will need only 1 IP so you dont need to "authenticate" each pc...you only need to register your border device mac and the router will NAT your public IP to the IP's on your private network...if you dont have your account info you will need to call the dreaded insight "help" line

Re: Setting Up New Service

Thanks for the speedy reply. I guess what made me think that every computer had to be 'authenticated' was that last year I helped a friend in the military get his computer online. He was deployed for over 6 months. When we went to use the computer again, he had to reach that silly authentication page. Come to think of it though, he WAS connected to a router but we had to hook his computer directly to the modem because his router was fried.

What you say makes sense. Still appreciate any advice anyone is able to offer.
