| After a poor launch...
they're just looking for something to do with it. I mean, 5 games come launch day? They should've held off on the release until they had mediocre following.
And what's even more sad? When the PSP launches in March (I think it's March), it will have more games then the DS up until that point in time. A true shame if you ask me.
And yes, I also have a DS. Plan on buying a PSP when it launches too. |

| i dont see it as a porr launch. why in the hell do you think that just abut every damned place in the states that carries the DS is sold out? many people are being forced to wait till january before they can get one. i dont think it was anywhere near a poor launch.
also, imo, the DS and the PSP are not on a level playing field. the DS was made to be a pure gaming system. nothing else. the PSP was made to be an all purpose entertainment portable. |

Did you know that the GameBoy originally launched with only 4 games, and it took over 6 months for more to come out? And guess what, the GameBoy platform went on to be the most popular platform for video games, ever.

| This happened to the GBA too. I hardly found the launch titles appealing at the time, yet I bought one after a year when the good titles started coming out. Now it outsells the PS2. DS has the potential for some great games down the road. It was just a quick release.
1. We'll wait and see what PSP has to offer on release.
2. That is a baseless assumption. I am the owner of both and like them both equally, and I doubt that statement would be true for the majority. They both have unique strengths. Gamecube owners don't tend to be displeased that they made the purchase.

I'd have to say that the GBA SP and even the original GBA will give the most competition to the DS - at least until the PSP arrives. I don't think Nokia even deserves mention when it comes to competition.
Another factor working against the DS is the fact that it costs $150. I'd just as soon tame my gaming habits to stay within my home and save some money. This factor is also going to work against the PSP as it's priced even higher. |

1 edit | I'd rather have a slew of poor games then just the one game worth buying (SM64 DS). That may just be me though...
And I was referring to the games available at launch that made it the poor launch that it was. I knew it was going to sell out, hence my waiting in line at 7 am. Maybe back in the original Gameboy days, 4 games was acceptable. Nowadays it isn't. |
