According to everything I can find, 375 is not a valid area code. Country code 375 is Belarus.

According to the NANPA (North American Numbering Plan Administration) web site NPA [Numbering Plan Area (Area Code)] 375 is reserved by the INC (Industry Numbering Committee) and not in use.

I thought it may be like 283 which was assigned as an overlay to 513 (Cincinnati, OH) and was even listed on the front of the phone books a few years ago, but then it was decided it wasn't needed after all.

Believe this same thing happened in the 614 (Columbus, OH) area code also as the 380 overlay was cancelled.

Could this be the result of people "cutting the cord" either using wireless or VoIP?

What is it that you are looking for with NPA 375? It has some usage but is not tied to a geographical area.

Now I'm curious, what is 375 used for? Is it anything like 500, 800, 888, etc.?

It is reserved for special usage, and only has a few numbers associated with it.
