| Block access to unsecured networks?
Hey all. In windows XP, is there a setting or policy somewhere that I can set that will prevent the wireless NIC from connecting to a network that isn't secured? I have an owner worried about someone not paying attention to what they are connected to and getting their email sniffed. -- If at first you don't succeed...bug them till you get what you want. |

| reply to Phil BK XP shows available networks up top, and allowed ones below. Remove all but the one you want from the bottom list.
If you set the router's network segment to something non-default (say, 192.168.99.xxx) and set the client with a software firewall only allowing that segment, he can't get an IP assignment from any others. XP has one, but you could also use the free one from Zone Alarm, with the XP firewall disabled. (it is enabled by default in XP SP2). |
