| reply to rob_in_chatt said by rob_in_chatt :only thing i run is norton antivirus 2005...........the way i see it is i am a hardcore gamer so a firewall does two things for me. one it is a resource hog, and i have no use for that kind of item running while i am gaming and second, if anyone wants in your PC they will gain access no matter what precautions you see fit to take against it. just my 2 cents and what happens when someone hacks into your system putting trojans and such among other things that cause your system to slow down and to hog all your bandwidth? then you are sol again |

Not entirely concerned about outbound traffic, as the bad stuff doesn't get in to phone home in the first place.
If it does, I have the usual suspects installed to get rid of them.
My VMware machines are using Sygate firewalls. -- "As I was sayin' buster, this planet ain't big enough for the two of us so... OFF YA GO!" |

Desktops: XP SP2 with McAfee AV, Adaware and Spybot. No firewalls active on the desktops. Default browser is FF 1.0 on all machines.
Worst problem seems to be occasional adware from site the kids visit. |
