The City Of Philly

has been threatened by the South East Pennsylvania Transit Authority (known as SEPTA) today that all Public Transportation Buses, Subways and Trolleys will halt on the weekends and there will be severe cutbacks during the work week unless they get millions of dollars from the State for operations. They also said rates will rise dramatically and Philly already has one of the most expensive to ride mass transit systems in the Country. The State has turned a deaf ear towards them.

The Governor who Ms.Neff wants us to write to was previously the Democratic Mayor of Philly and former Chairman of the DNC. Is she telling us that our Gov is trying to hurt Philly?

I say "WE DON'T NEED Wi-Fi in Philly". Fund the transit system.

It's not an either-or. SEPTA needs funding from the state. The Wi-Fi initiative won't be that expensive and would attract a lot of new people and companies to the city. It also isn't being funded from the state.

I think the Wi-Fi idea is bold and should become reality. I hope the governor sees fit to veto this bill.

If I write one letter to the Governor it won't be about wanting Wi-Fi for the City. Wi-Fi will not solve any problems the City presently has. It will not bring in new business and people will not be moving into Philly in droves so they can get Wi-Fi. Every day, Philly is losing people due to Urban Blight and Decay, poor Public Schools, Traffic Problems, Corrupt City Government and Crime, Crime and More Crime.

Wi-Fi means nothing to the people of Philly. If I write Rendell a letter, I will ask him to send in State Troopers to stop the drug violence in my City. I will not waste my letter writing skills so Neff can get a raise.

I agree with you that transit deserves more funding than this stupid Wi-Fi plan. But Septa is bloated with incompetent management that can't keep costs down. Those losers need the axe first. There's no reason why the Septa GM makes way more money that the guy who is in charge of PennDOT for all of Southeastern Pennsylvania when Septa can barely keep the buses and trains running.

I am glad this bill is becoming law. Municipal governments all across this state have been screwing people with higher and higher property and income taxes because they can't think of enough different ways to spend our money. We need more laws like this to reign in this kind of waste.
