Well, some on the Republican side might prefer not to have a likely large Democrat state join up.
On the other hand, the homophobic slam was inexcusable.
And, didn't PR citizens just reject statehood? Seems like statehood might force the island to forego some of its current very lucrative tax benefits, no?

We are in the 21st Century and whether Puerto Rico becomes a state or independent is up to the residents of the island. Should they decide to become a state we should embrase that has it was done in the other 50 states who joined the union in the History of the United States. |
