#1 + NAT router with hardware firewall + PestPatrol Corporate's Mem Check and CookiePatrol running + SpywareGuard & SpywareBlaster installed/running. ALL of which are running anytime the computer is on. FULLY patched XP SP2.

My IE based browser's ActiveX filter enabled, Universal URL filter active, and misc Blacklists.

NOTHING in my Trusted Zone, a couple hundred? sites in the Restricted Zone. NO default settings.

If I'm feeling a little paranoid, I will use Opera for that non-IE feeling.

This does not take into consideration weekly scans with several other AS/AV/AT products AND several Online Scanners.

Re: Poll- What is the best protection against Mal

I run a software firewall, an antivirus, 3 antispyware apps, Script Sentry, and disabled HTAs with HTAStop. I also use a certain amount of common sense.

Re: Poll- What is the best protection against Malware

I kind of had to say #7 due to my system being a #3 plus having additional spyware and anti trojan programs, Script Sentry, and numerous other layers of protection along with some common sense.

NAT Router with a software firewall on a fully patched XP SP2 machine which also runs an anti-virus program, Startup Monitor, Script Sentry, Maxthon/FireFox (I alternate between the two depending on my mood), and (most importantly) the latest version of User Common Sense™.

Good point

I would have put, "Being a Premium member of Dslreports.com" to help support the website that we all know and love.

Not really:
said by the poll:

(10)Being Educated about virus's ,Trojan Horses , Spyware..Etc.
As long as this poll asks what is sufficient for ourselves, I picked #10.

If this is about "for most people", then I pick #2.

anyways educated is the way to go, protection always helps, but configuring your browser correctly, and knowing how it works........also your OS knowing how it works and configuring it correctly is the best way

ps i love people that bash windows and have no idea about anything windows related at all
learn your programs, learn your os, and you'll be fine
