I need to get a new modem and would like to know if anyone has had either good or bad reports on Insightbb using either a Motorola SB5100 or the Linksys BEFCMU10. |

| reply to rich_joy I don't think many if any of the US cable isp's have upgraded to DOCSIS 2.0 yet , but it's something good to have for the future , I don't think my USR Sharkfin supports DOCSIS 2.0 , so I will have to upgrade someday I guess. -- Broadcasting The Classic Hits 24/7 SauceMaster Radio!!!! |

| reply to rich_joy Thumbs high on the SB5100 here....
However, I can not understand why there is no Signal to Noise Ratio listed for for the Upstream on the signal status page.
Downstream Frequency 591000000 Hz Locked Signal to Noise Ratio 37 dB Power Level 1 dB
Upstream Channel ID 5 Frequency 25008000 Hz Ranged Power Level 50 dBmV
Otherwise, I am pleased with this device, especially the emergency traffic stop button on top. --

| reply to rich_joy How are your guys speed test ? I am wondering since I am using such a old modem " 3Com Sharkfin" if this could be why I am getting slower speeds , when the upgrade first happened I was getting 3700 - 3900 now I am alot of times only getting 3300 -3400 down , upload is pretty steady at 238 most always.
So far I am sold on the 5100 , this modem is probably the oldest piece of hardware I still have left , I guess I been in a mode of "If it ain't broke don't fix it" but it's like 4 maybe 5 years old now so I am getting concerned on how much longer it's going to last. -- Broadcasting The Classic Hits 24/7 SauceMaster Radio!!!! |

rich_joy Premium join:2004-10-17 Rockford, IL | Bought the SB5100 and my speeds went from around 2400/237 to 3500/237. My old CMX modem was so old that it did not support above 3000 per manual.
Thanks for the suggestions. I win for a change. Now to replace my broken wireless router. |
