There was a post a few days ago where someone was considering an ADT system and ADT advised him that VoIP was not supported. I dislike ADT because I think they are over rated & over priced but I happen to agree with them on this.
When I first got VoicePulse was going to do the same thing but I didnt realize how unstable VoIP providers are,, I asked my UL listed CS and advised against terminating my panel to the VoIP device. My CS suggested keeping the POTS as the first choice or going with a cell or broadband device. If you really want to ditch the POTS line see if ADT has a broadband device method this way you are not dependant on two services, you would only have to depend on your ISP.
I dont know anything about ADT systems but my guess would be if it were another industry standard system your inststaller could play with the dialer formats & receiver types to *possibly* get it to work,, and even with that VP has not been stable enough for me to trust sending fire or burglary codes. More than likely you have it connected properly but the current dialer format and/or receiver is just not compatible with over your VoIP device, but thats just my option. |
