Since when did Earthlink start charging per bandwidth usage?

Trash mail (snail mail spam) costs the sender and emailed Spam costs the recipient (and the ISP also, so the ISP raises my prices to cover their higher costs to handle the incoming Spam). You, especially you, should be very aware of this business fact since you work[ed] for an ISP. You should be ashamed for defending any Spam.
During the time I worked there, I don't remember us having ever raised prices. In fact, we only lowered prices.

I don't remember spam ever being discussed as a problem from the traffic and bandwidth perspectives. Maybe since it's a smaller ISP, they're less targeted, whereas someone like EarthLink will be more heavily targeted, and might face more incoming spam traffic.

You're damn right I do. Spam is THEFT. I pay for my bandwidth. I never gave these assholes permission to use it.
Well, I know you pay for your bandwidth but I don't know why you're so mad since it's obviously not increasing the amount you pay earthlink. Specially since you don't pay per byte.

Very true, but you seem sadly incapable of seeing it due to "lack of" vision.

Victor Morales is one of the techs, but he does not post on BBR.

I don't believe that any current DSLi employees post on BBR.

Just sounds like you're making a bigger deal out of it than was necessary.

Do you go insane with every single piece of spam you receive?

I just delete the ones that don't make it through the filter. Not a big deal. I sleep well at night.

If it's not a big deal, what's your email address? What you're not willing to post it here? I thought spam isn't a big deal.

Wow, that's a troll if I've ever seen one. This thread has been dead for some time, please don't start it up again.

We are all in agreement that spam is annoying. We also agree that DSLi sent out spam on that PARTICULAR occassion. The main question was "Is DSLi the kind of company that habitually spams?" The answer is no; however, they did on this occassion and I personally have not received any more spam from them since that occassion, nor had I received any before.

Sorry, I chanced on this forum and it was on of the top threads.
My point is that JHD (Just Hit Delete) is a nonsensical solution. If we say spam is OK, JHD, and every entity with motivation to send spam did so, we'd spend all day every day JHD'ing. "What's your email address?" was a shorter way of arguing that JHD is a nonsensical solution.

That's ok. I understand your point now, and you are right. Spam IS a major problem. I must have misunderstood the motivation of your post.

If you click on my name to see my profile, it's posted there.

Besides, I think this:
»Spam Works
is more the reason why spam is so pervasive.
