I've not seen Insight get to heavy handing in regards to usage of the service. So I'd agree that there might have been a security issue - such as a virus or worm. Or maybe that a static IP might have been in play.
If there are children in the household in question. Peer to peer ( file sharing ) usage might lead to a warning for over usage. But I don't think we have seen many cases of this ever in this forum. I can think of one thread that may have been related to this. In the years I've been active in the forum.
Insight is normally pretty liberal in letting you use the service. Within reason of course.

| reply to hapick If you have been propogating a virus, have a static ip, have been found to be hacking, or several other reasons. Some of these thing s such as the virus and static ip can be something that she might not know about. Win 98 has a bad habit of not releaseing and renewing the ip properly. |

1 edit | A friend called me today saying their account had been suspended pending them calling a security and violations hotline at insight. Anyone have any idea what that means? She got a recording and left a message there. What kinds of things cause them to shut down your access and call this number to have your service restored? |
