[Vonage] Clicking and beeping sounds?

Has anyone ever experienced any clicking sounds with Vonage? I can't pinpoint when it happens exactly, but it seems to happen during periods of silence.

Also, occasionally I'll hear a beep as if I pressed the keypad by mistake, but I know for sure I haven't. This also seems to happen during periods of silence.

I called Vonage but got tired of waiting, so I'll try them again later, but I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this.

Thanks!

I did when i had them and they changed the port of my moto box to the 2nd line and it went away, but get ATT CV they are alot better, IMO

Cool, thanks for the info. I'll look into ATT CV, but can I use my current Vonage equipment? I don't want to have to get all new equipment.

I've never noticed any strange sounds, click or beeps. Could it be your phone?

Both Vonage and AT&T use proprietary hardware, so you'd need new equipment if you switch.

In the over 2 years I have been using VoIP (Vonage) as my primary telco, I can say without reservation that ANY TIME I had problems - noise, echo, clicks, etc - It was a direct result of either my ISP (RoadRunner) or my own equipment (router, phones, microwave oven, etc)

With stable, properly configured home equipment, my VoIP has been rock solid.

Chances are any problems you are having would translate to ANY Voice service providor.

The only clicking I hear are the crickets in warm, sunny Florida when I call my parents.

I have vonage and I think the call waiting beep sounds kind of like a key being bumped. It took me a while to figure out that I had another call comming in.

Just a thought.

Yup, I have the same problem with my Vonage - I get that "beep" which sounds like someone accidentally dialed or touched the keypad. Please let me know if you figure out why this is happening.

It's definitely not call waiting as my phone makes 2 fast beeps every 2 seconds for that. The beeping I'm experiencing is random and only happens once and sounds like a keypad button being pressed.

Like i said, i had that problem ,They fixed it by changing the port on the moto box to #2 and it worked fine after that

Is that something they have to do on their end? Or is that something I can do from my end?

I am definitely getting "clicking" on most of my phone calls. Basically, it sounds like a very, very short burst of static approximately once a second. The "volume" level of the clicking varies during the course of the call. The person on the other end does not hear it, only me. At times is it very loud and makes it difficult to hear the other party. Guess I need to see if Vonage can do anything to fix it.

Please keep us updated on Vonage's diagnosis and/or solution to this problem.

Thanks!

I'll post an update as soon as I can, but everytime I call Vonage support I'm on hold forever so I end up hanging up. I'll try again tonight.

Have you tried switching phones? If you have a wireless try another wiresless and/or a non-wireless phone.

I had this clicking that sounded like rotary dialing on my Vtech T2451.

I switch to another phone and it works fine.

I emailed Vonage about the beeping problem a while back. This is what they had to say about it:

TALKOFF is the recognition of DTMF components in human voice. This means the frequencies in your voice can reproduce the same frequencies used to trigger touch tones. Even if the voice does not "sound" like a touchtone, it can still contain the same frequencies. This is an unavoidable factor since human voice can produce the same combinations of frequencies in DTMF. Unlike real DTMF generated from a touch-tone keyboard, these 'human' DTMF cannot maintain on a constant combination. This can result in short beeps during a conversation. Our engineers are aware of this problem and working to resolve this issue.

I don't know about the clicking, but maybe is caused by the same thing.

Thanks for the info. That kind of explains the touchtone sound, but I want to know why that's even happening to begin with.

Their response seemed to indicate that the beeping sounds were triggered by your voice...so, basically it's your fault
