| [Help Me] Di-624 reboot
I have a di-624 and it appears to be working fairly well. I do not use the wireless that much, but when I do I occasionally notice disconnects/reconnects. I have heard a lot of people complaining about the reboot problem with this router. I was wondering what specifically would I be looking for in the log to determine if the disconnects I occasionally notice are from rebooting?
Thanks,
Tony |

I'm on 2.44 f/w right now.. and it hasn't reboot yet. Hopefully that'll keep up. |

@skanova.com | reply to anettis This is something you guys should try. (If you are not using it wireless) Turn of the wireless part in the router. When you need the wireless part turn it back on. |

| I'm having the same problem. Just got this router a couple days ago, brand new C3 version. It seems to reboot a LOT, one time I saw it do it twice in 30 seconds, sometimes it will stay up for several hours. The first thing I did when I got it was to upgrade it to firmware 2.50, since that was the newest and appeared to offer some bug fixes. I did the update via the crash recovery method, as I'd already read about that in these forums. The only other thing I know to try at this point is to take off the cover, and see if it's heat related, as another post suggested. |

| If you mean the steps you posted a link to earlier in this thread, those ARE the steps I used. Right now I'm on a machine with a wired connection. I can tell that the router is rebooting because I briefly get a "network cable unplugged" pop-up. It's happening so frequently now that it seems to be caught in a loop... in the past 10 minutes, it's probably rebooted over 20 times. I guess I could try different firmware, but to me this seems like it'd be more a hardware problem. I still haven't tried taking the cover off, but I'll have to send this thing back if I don't find a solution soon. |

| reply to anettis I've found a lot of the reboot problems are solved by going back to Firmware 2.18. Anything after that seems to have a lot of interaction issues with Games (Battlefield vietnam 1.2 especially) and wireless issues as well, at least on the DI-614+

| reply to anettis I read somewhere on here that if you turn off logging in the router, it won't reboot constantly. I turned it off on my DI-614+ and so far the reboots and lockups have been far and few between.
Another problem I have is that the DHCP does not release the IP addresses of computers that have disconnected, even if I reboot the router. I've had several occasions where I shut down a PC, rebooted the router and then restarted the PC. When I go into the router config screens and view the DHCP connections, the PC is just restarted shows up twice, each with a different IP address. The only way to clear it is to disconnect the power to the router for a couple minutes. |

what I said was to troubleshoot.
U need to go back to basics mr dscline.
I know if u cannot connect a computer to the router it defeats the purpose of having a router.. dUH!!! |

| reply to Talon88 said by Talon88 :If you reboot is that Freq, I suggest you follow my step to flash again & Config you router again. Thanks Talon, I tried that last night. When I got home, it was obvious that it had still been rebooting (though through some of the evening, it was at least up for about an hour, as opposed to minutes which it has been yesterday morning). Last night around 9:00PM, I finally got done with re-flashing & reconfiguring. As of 8:00 this morning, it still hadn't rebooted, which I think is a record for it. The ONLY thing I did different in the flashing process was: the first time I did it, I didn't do the initial "restore to factory defaults", since the router was brand new, and should have already been at factory defaults. There are also a couple of things a little different in the config this time: I didn't turn on gaming mode, I changed to a longer random, WPA-PSK passphrase (just for security reasons), and maybe a couple of other minor things. Also, as of this morning, my neighbor (who is my sole wireless client) hadn't tried to connect. I know that I was getting reboots yesterday when he wasn't conected, but I DON'T know that him connecting won't trigger the beginning of it.
Keeping my fingers crossed, we'll see how it is when I get home tonight. |
