The popup comes with the (free) .tk domain.
I suggest you get a real domain name too. -- work | play |

I'm not saying SilentFX is a bad guy. Quite the contrary. But we have had instances in the past where other forums found out passwords and hijacked accounts here. Using a unique password helps to prevent that. |

I would say that is true most of the time, but unless they have changed the way that most forums work, that usually does happen.
For instance, on my forum, the password is kept in a hash, rather than a standard password.
Someone would have to have a lot of time on their hands, trying to decrypt that hash. -- Weather Forums |

They could create a fake signup page for people that are referred from this forum. Would be pretty easy. -- work | play |

That is true, and good practice, particularly if someone somehow got a copy of your database.
I think what Mospaw is talking about is someone capturing your password with the intention of trying that same username/email and password combination on other sites, everything from Amazon to BBR to Citibank to (insert your own alphabet of sites here). |

Your ISP does not permit HTTP servers. said by your ISP's ToS:
CUSTOMERS MAY NOT RESELL, SHARE, OR OTHERWISE DISTRIBUTE THE SERVICES OR ANY PORTION THEREOF TO ANY THIRD PARTY WITHOUT THE WRITTEN CONSENT OF SHAW. For example, you cannot provide Internet access to others through a dial up connection, host shell accounts over the Internet, provide email or news service, or send a news feed unless express permission is granted by the customer agreement.
The residential Shaw Services are designed for personal Internet use. You may not use the residential Shaw Services for commercial purposes. You may not run a server in connection with the Shaw Services nor may you provide network services to others via the Shaw Services. Examples of prohibited servers and services include, but are not limited to, mail, http, ftp, irc, dhcp servers, and multi-user interactive forums. Some business services may be exempt from these limitations.
I was simply trying to inform you nicely, but I guess Shaw's abuse department can do the same.

Well sure, but so can your ISP.
You are clearly violating your contract with your ISP by running a server (and charging money for it), but lots of people do this without realizing that this is not allowed.
So it was pointed out to you, and you get pissy about it? Wow. We'll just make sure that the Shaw abuse department sees this thread and wait patiently while you are re-introduced to the joys of dialup.
»Any Shaw abuse techs here?
What a moron.

| It's still against your terms of service. You're not to be running a server - free or not free. I tried to inform you (pretty nicely) that what you were doing would get you in trouble with your ISP, but .. well .. the whole forum saw what you thought of that.
said by Yaztech: Infact, the person who reported me seems to be hosting too. Threats, theat, its all about proof...
I'm not hosting a thing off of my DSL. 69.50.169.23 does not belong to SBC, my ISP, but to a provider that I have an account with.
As far as proof is concerned, it's all up there. You saw the ToS, you saw your site, and you saw commentary from various forum members. You could have taken it gracefully and gone on with life, but here we are! -- AIM | irc.removed.us - #dslr | RC5 rocks. |
