Re: Davis, CA having problems?

A comcast guy just left... everything was fine at my apartment... so the problem is definately on their end. He said they are suppose to be splitting the Davis node by next Thurs... and if I still have problems on Thurs, to call...

I had fantastic internet before

Yes, I'm averaging about 10% to the first hop, sometimes better, sometimes worse. No one at comcast support seems to want to believe that people are having problems. Make sure you complain and send this thread to them along with some test pings to your first hop. Let it run at least 100 or so times to get a good sample.

I'm getting terrible speeds and awful packet loss too. I would imagine the glut of students coming back doesn't help (or is the mail issue). ~10% packet loss across the board, >175ms pings to comcast.com, and Comcast says it's perfectly "normal" and won't even try to help (other than the usual modem swap-out).

did anyone else see the huge advertisement for comcast internet in the aggie today advertising "blazing fast internet"

Just talked to customer support again and they said there were no issues with my area, I had them create another trouble ticket. I suggest everyone call in and complain every single day.

so what the heck is going on anyway? some people report that comcast says there are problems and that they might be fixed thursday, and others (like me) are getting a flat-out denial that there are any issues at all (in fact, I've been told that this packet loss and huge pings are normal, and that comcast won't even lift a finger for anything 250ms... though I'm sure that figure is up for revision as soon as we tell them we're there).

If you're reading this thread, and you learn something new about the situation, please update us all. (oh, and *complain* to Comcast... not that they'll care)m

I called comcast and they don't seem to know anything going on. Denial of anything wrong on their end. I will have a tech here for the third time on friday, a day after the fix i was told about by the last tech. I got the comcast representative to reimburse me for the lost time for which the speed is slow from the first trouble ticket till the last one. The national office doesnt acknowledge any problem or node splitting on the local level.

Has anything changed for you all? As of right now (12pm Tuesday), I'm now getting no packet loss and reduced pings. It might be temporary, but I'm wondering if any one else is noticing a change.

Hopefully the improvement you all are seeing (I've been at work all day) isn't just because everybody (students) is in class...

Can't wait to get home and try it...

Anyone going to ask for a refund on service for the past week?

I'm back to 3024/150.... not bad downstream. It only took them 3 weeks to fix it (and never an acknowledgement that there was an issue). Now I'm sure I just jinxed myself and I'll be back to 240/50 soon :P

I just wish they would keep us all informed, since I'm sure this crap will happen again and again...

@pacbell.n

Monday night around 1:30 my internet started working again, speed tests ~ 2700/220

Tuesday morning - Normal 3000/200ish, Great!

Now its 11:55 PM tues night and I don't know about anyone else In/Around LaSalle and North Davis, but now Comcast Cable isn't working period. Personally my Cable light won't sync, and my neighbors (Whose modem light does remain constant) can't get the internet to work either.

Anyone else having problems? 16 hours of normal internet was so nice
