Forget this upgrade, wait until FIOS comes to NYC. Fiber Optic terminations in your apartment/house. Bringing dialtone, broadband and digital TV. The DL speeds on Fios are 5.o, 10.0 and even T1 speeds for under $60 a MONTH!!!!
This is in place across various parts of the country and is about to be deployed in NYC.
In case I sound like a salesman, yes, I work for them. Regardless, we are working up the legal specs now for risers etc in NY and when it comes in, it will be HUGE. |

500KB is way way TOO SMALL a file to be accurate. -- You can never be too rich, too thin or have too much Bandwidth |

| reply to ShootToThril There is a line of people in PA that have more of a right to cry than you in CA. It seems that nobody can be pleased with anything.
I am jealous of the people with the fiber in Keller and anywhere else that have it running. I am jealous of the people with RR Premium (It isn't offered here). And I am joining the people with Verizon 3/768 tomorrow when the new modem comes. I have my fingers crossed that I get the speed that is promised.:D
See ^^ no tears, just envy. |

| reply to ShootToThril This sounds like another COX thing ,maybe verizon wasn't finished upgrading you got to give it time just like how everyone has to give fiber time. And everyone in CA usually just goes with a verizon reseller for it.East coast was probably most likely to get the upgrade first |

| reply to ShootToThril Maybe you should read the news about fiber and how it is deployed in keller,tx so they did something there . you might also wanna read the forums about how people already got the upgrade so before you post you should read the oh so many articles about verizon |

This is the first website on the Internet to report Verizon customers are getting higher DSL speeds this week, and you're whining about them (and the users) breaking a story?
Verizon gets slammed (and rightly so) because they over-emphasize fiber deployments for regulatory effect.
While I agree with the first part of your post, I disagree with the latter. It isn't the end of 2004 yet. How do you know Verizon won't reach 4,000,000 people? You should really go read up on the deployment. Verizon has installed fiber lines in many different areas, it's just waiting to be turned on.

| Is this article supposed to be news?
Verizon, Verizon, Verizon..........all i hear is that verizon is not doing much, so many articles about verizon upgrading the service and yet they don't actually do anything.
why not save us the time until verizon makes something official for a change and then tell us about it. |
