XM or Sirius?

Is XM better then Sirius? I was going to get one but since we are on this topic (somewhat), those who have it what are your thoughts?

I love XM. It's a great service and really passes the time when you're on the road. Sirius doesn't seem to have much of a subscriber base so I doubt they'll be in business much longer.

Sirus has NPR and XM doesn’t. That is not so important to some, but it is to me.

Sirius has free internet streaming of all their stations, and I like their dance channel (66-The Beat) better than XM's offerings. XM has much better terrestrial repeater coverage (less drop outs in metropolitan areas). XM has a better top 40 lineup too. Sirius lacks a good, current adult contemporary channel.

Sound quality is about the same on both XM and Sirius from what I've heard, both of which are well below CD quality. Which is why, going back on topic, the whole "PC Recording" thing is really silly. They're good enough to listen to but are certainly no CD / high quality mp3 replacement. The record companies shouldn't be stressing out over this any more than people recording off of FM radio.

I have Sirius. The main reason I went with them was cause XM is 5% owned by Clear Channel Communication. They own what seems like 90% of commercial FM radio and are responsible for you hearing Britney Spears and D-12 over and over and over. No original programming exists anymore cause of these clowns.

Also in the beginning XM was not 100% commercial free. about 80-90% of the stations where. Now XM is all commercial free. I wonder how they do that on the Clear Channel FM stations they "uplink" to XM. 96 Rock out of Atlanta (a Clear Channel owned FM station) was being pushed out on XM
Don't know if that is still true

If you want to hear NFL games, only Sirius has the rights to broadcast all NFL games.

Not the best site, but it's somewhat neutral in determining what you want.

My recommendation is to get both.

They don't do that anymore. But back when they did, they'd just fill in the commercial breaks with music.

Also, Clear Channel no longer owns 5% of XM.

Clear Channel HATES XM and Serious. They tried to block them from offering local content, which is hilarious since Clear Channel offers very little. Check out »clearchannel.com/Radio/PressRele···tent.pdf for their lame attempt of doing something so they can use the "Clear Channel Radio brings radio listeners more local content" headline.

The Intel Prescott. One step closer to 50,000 watts of clear channel power!

That's a little strong, since Clear Channel used to provide content for quite a few XM channels.

Matter of fact, they still do. Nashville, KISS, Mix, Sunny, and some other channels are controlled by a Clear Channel employee. Kevin Kash (of DC101) currently programs KISS and MIX.
