Well I just got off the phone with the best customer service rep. with Verizon I have ever had. She was very knowledgeable and helpful.
I got the upgrade 3.0/768 package @ $44.95 plus the $2.40 fee (already paying the fee) and I can change to the Freedom Package later and get the new upgrade for the $39.95 plus $2.40 @ month.
My speed upgrade should be completed by 4:30 PM tomorrow, Wednesday September 1, 2004.
I'm very pleased....so far. 
I will post an update tomorrow with my results as I see everyone is getting different results.

I called and the lady told me I would get it, no email, no rder status page no nothing. And the what pisses me off is she spend a half hour on the phone flirting and telling me her life story!:(UGH!
Damn I hope she put my order through.

I just got off the phone with a very nice lady that said my speed upgrade "should" kick in by midnight tonight. Though she said it may take up to 48 hours. I am an employee and she said it only raises some universal charge to $2.94 and my charge for the speed upgrade is $5.00. I was only paying $29.99 to begin with. I love it! If this goes through my total DSL bill will be less than 37 bucks. Gotta love VZ! |

Well as the Joker said in Batman, Crap, Crap, Crap.  It turns out I'm out at 12,117' so I won't be getting any increase in speed, At least until They roll out the New speed from an RT, Until then It's 1.5M/384K @ $29.95 like It or not, As the Yermo CO is not 3.0M/768K ready and there is no idea when It will be upgraded. So If You live in Yermo, don't call for the upgrade as 1.5M/384K is the Max for this areas CO until It's upgraded.  |

Thank You so much that was very informative i checked the order status and it said after 6pm August 30th for SRD. Well ill wait 1 more day and then they get a call. Judging from everyone no one got the upgrade yet from these posts. |

To sum up what the deal is for people who are not going read through 17 pages of info and conversation
The 3.0/768k plan was introduced yesterday
It costs $39.95 with qualifying packages, $44.95 without.
It is only available in Verizon East Areas, or the former Bell Atlantic Areas. It is not out in Verizon West or ex-GTE areas. East and West do not mean physical location.
You can not get it if you are on a Remote Terminal currently regardless of East or West classification. |

Got the speed Increase, called yesterday around noon EST, Brooklyn NY 11230, just kicked in about 5 minutes ago, 1:30EST. Currently pulling 360K from VZ nntp server with the old wirespeed BA modem, have yet to install my 2200. Now seems like as good as time as any  .

Here's my story:
I called Verizon about 40 minutes ago, got a nice rep., she knew about the upgrade and said sure let me get that right in for you. She then came back and said 'it's not letting me enter it into the system, let me put you on hold for a minute Mr. XXXXXX' she came back and then said 'ok, it let me go right ahead and put that into the system'
Then she said, that since I placed the order before 4:30 PM that the order would be processed by the time of their closing (8 PM).
She mentioned the increase in price from $29.95 to $39.95 and then said (this is the part that scares me LOL) 'your upgrade will be effective by the time of our closing at 8 PM, and the upgrade was for 3.0 download and 368 upload.'
368????????
She must have mis-spoke, right? She must have meant 768 and said 368 instead. Because if she meant she was keeping me at the 384 upload she couldn't have confused 384 with 368, right? I need some reassurance LOL.
Anyway...we'll see if it I get it. |

yep, not five minutes after i read mole's post, my modem lost sync, then when it came back up its now synced at 3360/864! sweet. just ran a speed test at infospeed.verizon.net and got 2909Kbits or 363KBytes!

lol, I went to infospeed.verizon.net just to test my 1.5/384, and it says I'm getting 1514. I'm getting higher than I'm supposed to? YESSSSSSSS! Maybe when I get the 3.0 upgrade I'll be getting 5.0 instead
