One should not have to pay $5000+ a yr in taxes for the privilege of owning a modest home. |

| reply to Count Hogula3 I hear that; thanks for keeping that issue alive and refreshed in everyone's minds! I went as far last night as emailing them about the situation; still haven't received a reply back; I'll probably get the usual run around and BS. -- Verizon 768k/128k @ 16,200 feet from CO.Activated June 13 2001.Now at 17,047 feet+ ! |

| In PA, it really has nothing to do with who's in office, but the arcane system of funding schools.
Most of the school budget comes from property taxes. Since the school board can raise taxes whenever the want, we get screwed. Last time I went to a school board meeting, I mentioned that, on my salary, I can no longer afford to live in the house I've been in for 26 years. Their response was "If you don't like it, move".
This is the problem when a bunch of jerks move into a formally rural area, and decide they're going to do things "their" way.
BTW, I AM moving. I used to like living in PA, but things have gotten ridiculous here. The property taxes and car insurance is enough to make ya move. Plus, all the doctors are splitting since they can't afford the malpractice insurance.
I'm probably going to move south somewhere. The Northeast has gotten out of control when it comes to cost of living. |
