With regular POTS lines I still have outages, humming on my phone line and trucks knocking out phone service for days.
I don't see your point.
Vonage has given me much more than any ripoff POTS provider can, at less than half the price. |

No problems here. 818 / Los Angeles.
The only time I have any Vonage related problem is when I have an Adelphia cable modem problem. Otherwise, all is good all the time. Regarding emergencies, a cell phone is good for that. If you don't have a cell phone or have weak cell coverage in your area, a) get the least expensive POTS line or b) meet your neighbors and use their phone.

Not much different from the days of the first Internet exchanges. The big guys would play peering games and traffic routing became highly suboptimal for some of the small ISPs. |
