Re: DON'T rush to judgement yet!!

The Cisco and Motorola are two different beasts, as shown here.

How can you NOT hook it up with a router? my Cisco MTA unit requires something to give it an IP? my ISP uses static (I am the isp HEHEHE)

I have several vonage users on our wireless system and they seem to be fine just I as I am..

If the Motorola MTA is intended to be behind a router, Vonage needs to change their setup instructions on their site (which indicates to the user to hook MTA up between the modem and router).

actually they say either is acceptable, however you will lose the QOS features if behind the router.

Actually yes. I have an alarm system that has a log to tell if the line ever went down. Then got a seperate line for that because you shouldn't have both DSL and that on the same line. So now I also have DSL with a 2wire modem and I can tell in that log if it has ever gone out...because the modem has been on 24/7. So in all honesty, yes.

I've had landline service on my own for over 6 years now, and have NEVER been down!

At least not when you needed it... But are you positive it hasn't gone down? You monitor your POTS 24/7?

Agreed. Ive only had vonage for 2-3 months, in that time my service has been down once, for 2 hours. no big issue. but ive already given my rant/defense on the last headline about this a few days ago...

I have Vonage since last March, NO OUTAGE here. Incoming and outgoing are trouble free.

There's still a few Vonage customers who don't have their Motorola MTA behind a router. I was seeing DAILY lockups until I finally broke down and got a router last week.
