I disagree. The spammers operate in other countries where we can't "go after" them but the money is from the good ol' USA. Reduce demand is the only way to remove unpleasantries from a free market system - and in this case that means making it illegal to hire someone to represent your company/product in an invasive fashion and give end-users civil recourse to the person who paid for the spam. Spammers are merely doing the bidding of their bosses.
You advocate a "war on drugs" type enforcement where we go after the growers & couriers. It never, never works because where there is demand the marketplace *will* provide. |

Good and Bad as much as i would like that to happen there is to much in the way of sabotaging company's.ie i don't like my competitor so i"ll have some scumbag spammer spam millions of people with there products to make him look bad.There is one way to get this teach people about spam and really go after the spammers themselves.

Excellent idea, ropeguru. These losers only understand one thing: money - So until there's a monetary feedback loop they'll continue to find ways to abuse the openess of the internet by exporting their costs onto other businesses (in this case Google) and individuals (the hijacked machines blackmarket, b'logs, mail servers).
